Mommy Kai

These pics of Kai taken today. She's been doing a great job raising her puppies. I have to admit though she's been very protective of them since they were born. This was the case with the last litter too. Well, humans moms are very cautious and protective of their infants as well and like I said in earlier posts, this breed is so humanlike. Not to mention we've had some dogs in the neighborhood curious about her new house in our outdoor kennel that they've frequently made trips into the yard, which I have no doubt that has her on the defense as well. She can even get riled up when Deuece is catching a peek at her and the pups.

Kai is a dark brindle with mostly red highlights (that's what I like to call them), but as she's gotten older more fawn has been coming through her coat. Although 3 of the puppies are similarly colored like the mother, as they grow their colors will brighten. If you looked over the photos of the last litter I'm sure you noticed the colors got more intense the older they got.
