OUR FUTURE GOALS FOR FAIRVIEW HILL MASTIFFS...

Not required reading, just an F.Y.I. post to give everyone an idea about where we are and where we hope to be heading in the future with our little Kennel.

We have talked A LOT since we bred our first litter of puppies last year about if and how we want to proceed as breeders of mastiffs. The experience was wonderful, we were able to meet 4 wonderful families, and know that the young puppies who were born here are all living in loving and happy homes. Obviously we chose to breed again but at the same time we decided that in order to become the type of breeders that we want to be we need to set achievable goals and work steadily towards reaching those goals. Simply put we LOVE our Mastiffs, we LOVE the breed and we are in this for the long haul. We want to establish our kennel as one of the most reputable in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our foremost goal is to improve the breed by breeding through championship bloodlines and provide dogs that possess all the wonderful qualities that this noble breed has become famous for. We want to produce dogs that become beloved by their families and who are the greatest pets that their new families have ever had. We want to be available to every person who has purchased a puppy from us to assist them with any questions they may have and to stay in touch as the years go by to see how both our puppies and their families are doing. We hope to provide assistance and information to individuals who are considering joining those of us who have learned the great secret of what an amazing breed the mastiff is regardless of whether or not they choose one of our puppies. We want to gain and keep the respect of every person who joins our extended family which has begun to branch out here on the east coast. We hope we're on the right track! Ultimately we want to breed dogs that will be able to attend judging shows put on by the AKC and regional Mastiff Clubs and who are of a high enough quality to win championships and other recognitions if their families were to be inclined to show their dogs. To date we feel that each of our puppies from both litters have all met every AKC standard for show potential and we want to only improve as we move ahead. We will not breed our male with a female whom we feel is not up to par and rely on his genetics to produce a quality litter. When the time comes we will search for the finest male available to match with the females we may keep as we grow our kennel. In an effort to begin taking steps toward that goal we have decided that we are going to keep one of the females of this litter and begin the process of training her in order to gain the recognition which will allow Fairview Hill Mastiffs to produce a new line of mastiffs of superior quality which hopefully one day will be spoken of alongside some of the legendary lines of mastiffs in the US and Great Britain. It's a lofty goal and one that we'll need assisstance and advice from others from time to time but it's a noble goal that we feel we can accomplish given time and patience. As a testament to what a great litter we had this time around the girl we chose is not the largest (although she like her siblings are going to be very large dogs), is not the darkest, nor the lightest. She's also in the middle personality wise, not being the most active, or forceful and she's not the most reserved either. She's pretty much right down the middle which suits perfectly for us and doesn't take the pups with the "strongest" specific traits which will be reserved for those of you looking for your new family member. This allows for our potential buyers to have the dogs who most strongly display each of the different colors and traits that separate the looks and personalities of the rest of the litter. The fact that we took the "middle" dog and still are confident that she can and will be able to score enough points to become a champion in her own right shows to us and hopefully to you the potential buyer that each of these puppies have the potential needed to be show dogs. Still, in the end it came down basically to her personality! See our next post! We understand most of you are looking for a pet/family member and we feel that our dogs are the greatest in the world to meet that obligation which honestly is the most important function that canines have served since they first branched off from the wolf family and settled down with humans to become our best friends in the animal kingdom. This post wasn't really needed but we wanted to throw it out there to let everyone know where we stand and what our plans and goals are because we feel it is important to know the motives/plans/and experience of the people you're trusting to provide you with a new family member, specifically one that you are going to spend a significant amount of money on.
If you made it this far thank you for reading.
